2020 Detox

30 Days To A Healthier New Year

New year, new you. Here we are – fourth week of 2020 – and I’m sure you’ve heard the cliché saying at least 10 times. Personally, it bothers me. It implies we need to completely reinvent ourselves. It suggests we are not good enough just as we are. Of course, that’s NOT true. So, I’ve been passing on a message in all my yoga classes since the start of the new year – new year, NOW YOU. Focusing on growth, striving to be even better than we already are. Happier. Healthier. Giving yourself to you.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably remember the 30-day detox Brad and I did August-September of last year. 30 days without gluten, dairy, soy, alcohol, coffee, sugar or artificial sweeteners/flavors/colors. Chances are you just read that and think I’m nuts. I’ll lead with, it was Brad’s idea. But I play the role of supportive wife and I also cook just about everything – if it’s not eggs, or microwavable, it’s out of his culinary skill set. So, this meant a 30-day detox for two.

We participated in the 30 Days to Healthy Living detox with Arbonne. With our consultant (and friend – @breathecreatelove, breathecreatelove.com), we were guided through the process and added to a Facebook group which helped answer questions, motivate us and provided helpful dinner recipes. I promised at some point, I would share my versions of the recipes we enjoyed – and that time is now! Below are links to 14 recipes worth trying whether you are committing to a 30-day detox, or just a healthier 2020.

Completing a detox like the one Brad and I did decreases intake of toxins and helps eliminate existing ones, balances blood sugar and our system’s pH and increases nutritional intake and absorption. We didn’t do it to lose weight, but I know you’re all curious – Brad lost 8 pounds and 2 inches on his waist, and I lost 7 pounds after 30 days. The important take away is, above all else, we felt AMAZING. And we will probably do another 30-day round in March.

New year, NOW YOU. Give yourself a break, credit, time. Give yourself attention, love, power. Maybe that means committing to a 2020 detox.
