5 Things I Love Right Now
It has been the Summer of change for me – chalk it up to having a new name, I guess! It started with chopping my hair for the first time in about 15 years. As I tried to navigate styling this new short look, I began testing products. That spiraled into a serious beauty overhaul. Meaning, swapping any products I still used with parabens, sulfates, and other harmful chemicals, for a more natural (and better!) option. There is no turning back. Today, I am sharing more about what is trending in my health and beauty cabinet.
5 Things I Love Right Now...
Is it bad when you want to eat your lip balm? Or maybe that was the intention given the name. A friend gifted me the Birthday Cake and Mint & Matcha Tea (which also doubles as an eye balm). The products are USDA certified organic and 100 percent cruelty-free. But the best part is the jumbo size – more than three times your average lip balm. Find them locally at Whole Foods Market. Give your lips a “treat” with this must have.
I am slowly coming to the realization I am getting old. Step aside anti-aging cream, there is a new therapy in town – jade. The stone, a symbol of beauty, grace and longevity, has a cooling effect on skin. This can help enhance skin elasticity, refine pores, reduce puffiness and dark circles, release tension and wrinkles, improve oxygen flow, eliminate toxins and reduce stress and inflammation. The Chi Roller comes with an instruction booklet for rolling it over skin to stimulate meridian points. Jade therapy is a must have beauty secret for facial chi.
My whole life I have been using run-of-the-mill toothpaste (you know, the free samples from the dentist). If I am being honest, it has done me good – zero cavities (knock on wood). But I am taking my chances with Dr. Bronner’s version free of synthetic detergent foaming agents, fluoride, artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, or sweeteners, plus it is vegan and cruelty-free. I went with the tried and true Peppermint flavor, but if you want to get crazy it comes in Cinnamon and Anise, too. With 70 percent organic ingredients, this is a must have for those pearly whites.
Number one reason I love this – it leaves your skin feeling moisturized, versus greasy. In addition to being oil free, it is free of gluten, parabens, oxybenzone, octinoxate, is cruelty free, plus 100 percent vegan and reef friendly. Minus all the bad stuff and it still actually works – I prefer the broad spectrum SPF 30. The Sun Bum line is available at Target and other local retailers – just look for Sonny, the adorable monkey on the label. Spend the end of the season poolside with this summer must have.
The short haired girl’s best friend! I was used to a curling iron, but with my chopped locks it kept making my curls too tight. My hair stylist recommended the NuMe Classic Curling Wand and well, the pros know best. I bought mine on Amazon (psst, it’s cheaper!) – complete with heat-resistant styling glove, which is absolutely necessary unless you are a hair ninja. If you are craving luscious beach waves your hair must have this tool.
I promise you will love these things, too…happy shopping!
